Ushering & Hospitality

Ushering and Hospitality Ministry

At Sirikwa Pentecostal Fellowship (SPF), we believe that the worship experience begins the moment a congregant walks through our doors. As a church committed to being a warm family church, the Ushering and Hospitality Ministry plays a vital role in creating an atmosphere where people feel welcomed, valued, and prepared to worship the Lord.

Guided by SPF’s core value of putting people first because God values them, this ministry is dedicated to intentionally creating an environment where both long-time members and first-time visitors can freely seek God, grow in Christ, and feel a genuine sense of belonging within the church family.

Serving with Christ-like Excellence

The Ushering and Hospitality teams are much more than greeters or seat attendants. They are often the first point of contact for worshippers, helping to create an atmosphere of warmth, excellence, and order that allows people to feel welcomed and truly valued. The ministry serves across all six SPF branches, including SPF Central, SPF Mission Center, Kipkaren, Kapsoya, Baharini, and Sigor (West Pokot). The ministry is led by a chairperson together with two representatives from each center who help coordinate and oversee its activities across the various branches.

Colossians 3:23

“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.”

The ministry operates through three key areas of service:

Radical Hospitality

The team welcomes the congregation, distributes service materials, and ensures that first-time visitors feel recognized, safe, and valued without feeling overwhelmed. Through intentional acts of kindness and care, they help create a welcoming environment where everyone can feel at home.

Sanctuary Order and Care

The ministry helps maintain order and excellence during services by managing seating arrangements, guiding communion distribution, and facilitating the smooth flow of movement throughout the sanctuary. This allows the congregation to focus fully on worship, prayer, and the preaching of God’s Word without unnecessary distractions.

Connection and Aftercare

Working alongside other church ministries, the team helps newcomers connect with the broader church family by guiding them toward HomeCares (neighbourhood fellowships), discipleship classes, and other opportunities for spiritual growth and community involvement.

Setting the Stage for the Word

A distraction-free environment is important for meaningful worship and spiritual growth. By coordinating the logistics of SPF’s multiple Sunday services, including the twin morning services at SPF Central and the services held across the other branches, the Ushering and Hospitality Ministry works behind the scenes to ensure that every service runs smoothly.

Through their faithful service, the ministry helps advance the vision of SPF: that all nations shall hear, believe the Word of God and grow into Christ’s likeness.
