Ladies Fellowship

Ladies Fellowship was established in 1990 by “Auntie” Millie Reiman and Dr. Rachel Karei, who served as the first Chairlady.

The Ministry serves ladies and, by extension, the Men of the congregation as well. The Term ‘Lady’ is one of respect, historically used to describe women of high class or social status. In the Kenyan context, however, it refers to any adult woman aged 18 years and above. For this reason, the Ministry does not impose an upper age limit; membership is open-ended. The term implies a woman who is caring, pleasant and of good manners. As such, the ultimate goal of the Ladies Ministry is to nurture and mould women who embody such virtues for Service in the Body of Christ.

The main programme of the Ministry is a monthly meeting that addresses a wide range of topics, most of which are suggested by the ladies themselves. Speakers are primarily drawn from within the church, although guest speakers from other congregations are occasionally invited. Church pastors also take part in these sessions.

Besides the monthly meetings, the Ladies Fellowship is actively involved in other activities of the church and the community. These involve the planning of wedding receptions, assisting members and their immediate families in times of bereavement, and conducting visitations. The Fellowship also undertakes a special project each year as part of its ongoing service.

The group is diverse and broad-based, with special interest subgroups that include Single Ladies, Single Mothers, and Widows. These subgroups occasionally hold their own meetings to address issues that are particular to their own circumstances.

The Fellowship also has teams named after great women in the Bible. These teams are inclusive, with membership drawn from women of all ages and marital statuses, which fosters unity and shared purpose across the Ministry.

The Leadership structure has nine Ladies:

1.     Chair Lady4.  Treasurer7.  Single’s Representative
2.     Vice Chair Lady5.  Platform8.  Hospitality
3.     Secretary6.  Special Member9.  Representative of Pastor’s Wives

They serve a term of two calendar years, running all the Ladies’ Programmes and managing the Ladies’ Kitty, which is a monthly subscription. Overall, there is a church elder to whom the Committee of the Ladies Fellowship is answerable, with regard to the church hierarchy.
